Jazakumullah for the advanced greetings, but virtual greetings are NOT enough! I expect visits (more than one, if possible)... then again... I guess I have to take exams into consideration.

On thursday, I have class at uni, very important, musn't miss. So I'm hoping against hope that Eid is on Friday. Even then we don't know if we'll have the good fortune of stepping our of our hole!

Had a very surprise and a very pleasant visit from Aminah aunty yesterday. She almost made us make a vow (or swear an oath!) to visit her.

Rest ye all assured, we will try!

Oh dear... seem Ishi & I are the "lucky" (relative term) ones... we both have StuVac. The again, our exams (detestable) start earlier (7th/8th Nov)... so it's all relative.

NO way! I love ur voice M apu. Masha Allah its very nice. It was quite formal though. I'm just so used to Anisul Haq'a Ekanno Borti language: khaiso, geso, korso, rather than kheyecho, giyecho, korecho, lol. So I found it very formal. EID MUBARAK 2 u all as well. By the way, M apu, I am NOT skinny and I intend on picking up a proper healthy diet after Ramadhan and maybe Eid, lol.

lol, finally had a listen to the clip. u'know what? my most fondest memory of Eid in Bd is the night b4. all us kids would go down to the pukur, which was the highest ground in the area nearby, to see the moon. and after we had seen it we would form a circle holding hands and sing "Chader palki chore ashbo shobai ghure; bolo Eid Mubarak, Eid Mubarak, Eid Mubarak" and then "Romjaner oi Rojar sheshe elo khushir eid" song.

i went outside after maghreeb tonight to try to sight the moon if it's up, just to relive the memory i guess.... didn't see the moon, but caught a sight of my cat walking about and eventually coming to hang around with me :P.

lol Ema we used to do something similar, hang out in the playground hoping to catch a sight of the moon that will herald the coming of EID. I remember that was the only night we were allowed out after maghrib without any adults and just with our friends!

Afifa and Zakia's clothes are huge..so I cut off from the sides and Afifa broke the last needle sewing hers and Zakia hadn't even begun. Anyway, oke dunyiar boka diyechi and made her promise to buy sewing machine needle and finish it tomorrow. I'm wearing a Shari; yellow and green (no, not tia colour). Radia is wearing a white dress I made and people have commented that it looks like out of a Jane Austen novel, even abbu did *lol* Raef already wore his Eid panjabis so no new clothes for him! (He bought some new pants but never got around to buying the shirts)

ema's eid-er smrity shune amaro khub bd-r eid-er kotha mone porche. munira apu, i dont know if u remember (or if u were there with us), dhangobeshona eids were really fun. my best eid memories are from when i was really young and live in DG. shokal bela uthe, ready hoye amra amader friend-der shathe ber hoye jetam, ar abbira ber hoto tader bondhur shathe. and moms used to stay at home. and we kids, and dads, would go to everyones house in the group, ar mara bashai thakto otithider appayon korte. we would go to each house, some aunties would give us money. we would spend that money. and then we would come back at dawn. thats the time when moms would go out and hang out with their friends. lucky kids, we could go out twice. onces with our friends, and once with friends. mone ache? i remember, from 3-8, i think, i used to go with mily apu's group. well, she was our leader. hm......those days.....sigh....

last night, i tried to get a sight of the moon too, but we never can at EL. i miss the sight of the cresent moon b4 eid. nyways, tomader kar eid kemon katlo, kichuto bollana. in here, each eid, we fix 3 houses (usually), but this time, it was only 2. and then eat, breakfast at one. lunch at one. and dinner at one. this time no one took the lunch. everyone went away to spend eids with their relative. ar amra jader keu kache nai, tara ekshathe mile ghuri. anyways, shokal bela ekta bashai gesilam. now ppl are gonna come to our house. maliha and i are planning to give the kids their own fun party in our room. well, these kids have to learn that eid is supposed to be fun! hm....i was supposed to decorate the room for them. but last night, onno room gula decorate korar por, ar rat 1:30 porjonto mehendi deyar por, ar kora hoini. i know the kids arent gonna mind. but i feel a little dissapointed, i wanted to decorate this room for them.
nyways, u know mapu, i still cant picture you wearing a sari. i know i saw your pic, but for some reason, i cant get rid of the young image of you.

we did get the time to put up any kind of decorations this eid either. On the day of eid, we all started blaming Radia, saying we passed on the job to her...so the poor kid put up her coloured lights...that's all the decoration we managed.

actually, now that i think about it, our eid wasnt that bad. it was pretty eventful. i mean boring for us, but still, felt a little like eid, and i think the kids had fun. tarpor eider char din porjonto dawat. i think the only reason, i get depressed in eid, is bcuz i always compare it to eids back in bd. really miss bd eids. and i am really disappointed at you aussie ppl. u guys have such a great muslim bengali community, u guys have ymsa, maybe you guys should organize something especial for eid. although i dont know abotu what situation u are in, or how far you guys live from each other i still suggest that in eid, u all should make plans to hang out together. that way eid wont be boring for anyone.
