salams again everyone,
i was just reading through brainy-peach's post about BLACK. that reminded me of a man in bd named Muhammad Shahnaz, and this is a true story. at around the age of 3 his legs stopped functioning and he bacame an untintentional hermit, i guess. but he had his education upto year 10 at home by a home tutor. but his education didn't stop there. he wen't onto complete college (ie year 11 and 12) close to his home. he wasn't content. he applied for university and got in. currently he is working in (i think) Shonali Bank as a manager (again, i think, i'll check it). he's married, and has three children all grown up. his story was shown on Ittadi, last year (once again, i think) and his advice to viewers and others was that people who are disabled like himself, we, the able-bodied should always cooperate with them, as his wife has through out their conjugal life. once, long time ago, in ophra, they showed a couple of girls who had speech and hearing impairment. one of those girls said something that i really like - "Handicap is in the mind, not the body".

I like that 'handicap is in mind and not in the body' we can make all the comments we like about these people but we'll never really know where they're coming from unless we've been in their shoes!
I saw that Oprah episode and it is so true that handicap is in the mind and not the body. There is another saying that I really liked (just dont ask were i got it from)- 'poor is a state of mind, one can have all the wealth in the world and yet remain poor'.
I respect those who use let their other abilities shine when they've lost the use of another, but I tend to agree with M. Apu more... frankly, it would be a lie for me to say that I understand what they're goign through because I don't.
was the stuff about ...as opposed to people who talk non-stop directed at me???
Not saying that I dont talk non-stop, but i think being able to speak shud be seen as an opportunity rather than a disadvantage. Coz we can gain more rewards by using our tongue to praise Allah. So it all depends on how we make use of the faculties given to us, rite? (I wish I really was as optimistic as I sound, lol).
